Key Purposes of Prenatal Ultrasound:
- Confirming Pregnancy: Used to verify the presence of a fetus and estimate gestational age.
- Monitoring Growth: Tracks the baby’s growth, movement, and development over time.
- Assessing Fetal Anatomy: Screens for any structural abnormalities, including issues with the brain, spine, heart, or other organs.
- Checking for Multiple Pregnancies: Detects twins, triplets, or more.
- Evaluating Placenta and Amniotic Fluid: Ensures proper placement of the placenta and checks the amount of amniotic fluid.
